Steadmans Sponsor Cumbria County RFUC 

Steadmans were proud to sponsor Cumbria RUFC in their bid for the County Championship Shield. The shield final is played at Twickenham each year and Steadmans were proud to be one of the team sponsors in this year’s event.

David Henderson of Steadmans’ explained: “We like to show support to local teams where possible and the wider community. The opportunity to sponsor part of the Cumbria RUFC team kit was a great opportunity to show our support. Our involvement came about through one of the company employees, Heinrich Jonker, who plays in the team. Although they didn’t reach the final this year they acquitted themselves extremely well”

Cumbria 76 Staffordshire 3: The County Championship Shield campaign started well for Cumbria as they swatted aside a feeble challenge from Staffordshire at Workington.

Notts, Lincs and Derby 29 Cumbria 44: Cumbria eased themselves into the semi-final of the County Championship Shield in a see-saw of a game where the lead changed hands eight times.

Cumbria 20 Surrey 37: Cumbria’s bid for a Twickenham return, after winning the County Championship Shield in 1997, faltered at the semi-final stage against Surrey.
